How to Heal: Prepare, So You Don’t Have to Repair
Sometimes, we tell ourselves there just isn’t enough time.
Not enough time to plan.
Not enough time to learn.
Not enough time to reflect.
Not enough time to teach someone else.
But if we were to actually calculate all the time we lose spiraling in overthinking, lying awake at night, venting to others, or using therapy to untangle what could’ve been prevented with a bit of foresight…
We’d see how much energy is spent cleaning up messes that could’ve been softened, or even avoided.
Good leadership takes time on the front end.
But that’s not wasted time. It’s a healing investment. It saves you time, energy, emotional labor, and often unnecessary pain on the back end.
Healing and leadership both require intentional energy investment.
Front-end time = backend peace.
Reflection questions:
What have I been avoiding preparing for because I “don’t have the time”?
What would it cost me not to invest time in this now?
Where have I seen this pattern before—reacting instead of preparing?
What would it look like to trust myself enough to slow down?
And remember: this isn’t just about logistics. It’s about emotional regulation. When we give ourselves time to prepare, we also allow ourselves time to breathe. To ground ourselves. To choose responses instead of reactions. To lead with clarity, not chaos.
That’s healing work.
